The Orion XS is designed from the ground up to redefine adaptive DC battery charging. For use in dual battery (smart) alternator charged systems. This device ensures not only peak performance, but also guarantees the security of your system.

The Orion XS serves as a DC-DC battery charger or as a power supply and offers a wide range of input and output voltages. This is particularly important in the case of vehicles with a Euro 5 or Euro 6 intelligent alternator, which often supplies too low a charging voltage even with the engine running, or in the case of extended cable lengths, as is often the case with boats and RVs, lead to a drop in voltage. In such cases, accurate and controlled charging is necessary to fully charge the service battery while protecting the starting/entry battery from discharge.

Adjustable charging current

The charging current is adjustable with a minimum step size of 0.1 A via VictronConnect.

Compatible with smart alternators

An integrated mechanism detects whether the engine is running (engine off detection) and activates the charger only when the alternator is supplying power. This ensures that the charger only draws power when the alternator is supplying power, i.e. when the engine is running.

Adaptive 4-stage charging algorithm

With lead-acid batteries, it is important when the battery is only weakly discharged that the absorption time is short and the battery is not overcharged. After a strong discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to ensure a full battery charge. The Orion XS features customizable charging algorithms and eight pre-programmed battery settings.

Low temperature shutdown and input undervoltage protection

To prevent damage to lithium batteries, the charger automatically shuts off at low temperatures. It also shuts down when the input voltage drops below a configurable blocking value and restarts when the input voltage rises above the restart value to protect the input source, i.e. the starter battery, from deep discharge.

Remote switch

The Orion XS can be turned on and off remotely using the remote on/off connector or the VictronConnect app. Typical applications include wiring a switch or a battery management system (BMS).

Full electronic protection

This protection includes protection against overload, short circuit and excessive temperatures. The charger is protected against overheating by reducing the output power when the maximum temperature of the product is reached. The Orion XS meets IP65 degree of protection, so it is dustproof and protected against heavy rain.

Can be connected in parallel to increase the output current

The number of units that can be connected in parallel is not limited.

With Bluetooth Smart connection option

A wireless solution for changing settings, monitoring activities and updating Orion XS software using smartphones, tablets or other Apple and Android devices. The VictronConnect app can display key data, including warnings and alarms, on the device list page without you having to connect to the product.

VE.Direct communication port

For wired connection to GX devices such as Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, PC or other devices. Enables advanced monitoring, control, and diagnostics from anywhere (requires Internet-connected GX device and VRM portal) or locally via a remote access console.
